Angels

I guess there are angels.

They are there. Sometimes we just don’t notice.

Thank you, my angels.

It’s been nice meeting you all, no matter how long or short we have been together in the same city or not.

My Anxiety

I watch Scrubs, the TV show. Almost every Scrubs’ episode title starts with something like “My ….”, such as, “My Lunch” or “My New Suit”.

I don’t watch it on TV. I watch it online. Season 1 – 8. I’ve finished Season 8, and have been watching the rest backwards from 7 to 1. I’m not sure what I’d do after finishing watching them all. Maybe watch Friends again? I’ve probably watched every Friends episode more than twice.

I watch Scrubs when I eat lunch or dinner. I don’t have cables. Hence, I don’t even get to watch those movie channels, such as, HBO. (To tell you the truth, I have no idea what’s happening in the country I’m living in right now. I get my local news from people around me.)

Scrubs is my TV entertainment. My other types of entertainment include listening to online streaming music, (English) music mp3, (English) live radio news, and (English) podcasts (news and music).

That’s my anxiety.

Bar Hopping for a Project

Ever since our group finished the “field trip”, I’ve been wanting to talk about it. We weren’t supposed to tell other classmates what our project is about. Now that we’ve finished the presentation, we could.

The group project is about clubs, so we decided to visit 2 clubs and 2 popular pubs within 3 hours in one night. Before we went, we weren’t sure if the managers of those pubs/clubs would let us interview them without paying for cover charges or buying a drink. Kindly they all let us interview them for free. (That’s very nice of them.)

One manager of the clubs was quite nice to us. He sat down with us and spent lots of time answering our questions. It was very interesting to hear how they manage the club and what they have done to make sure it’s a decent club that people would want to visit again. Before the visit, I had no idea they actually thought about what types of customers they want to attract. By types, I mean occupation types and level of income. I had thought a nightclub would open their business to everybody.

Concentration & Aging

No, I’m not talking about apple juice concentration or the aging of wine. I’m talking about the ability to concentrate and the issue of getting old. Yes, I guess I have been aware of the matter a while back, but didn’t think it’s such a big deal at that time. Many years ago, I have noticed that I can’t concentrate my thought if I’m doing two things at the same time. For example, chatting on messenger. I can’t chat and browse Internet at the same time. I can’t chat with two people on two different windows at the same time. I would lose my train of thought. That’s one of the reasons I seldom use messenger now.

I have come to realize that I have limit amount of cognitive processing capacity, and it’s not getting stronger, but getting weaker. I noticed that when I read, my thought wanders more often. Can’t concentrate. Now when it comes to memorize something and a big chunk of something in a short time frame, I came to another realization. Getting old.

“Build Your Self Confidence Like a Leader” by Marshall Goldsmith

Source: http://bit.ly/2zzoQS

I hope it’s legit to copy and paste a few points that the author wrote here.

1. Don’t worry about being perfect. There are never right or wrong answers to complex business decisions. The best that you can do as a leader is to gather all of the information that you can (in a timely manner), do a cost-benefit analysis of potential options, use your best judgment — and then go for it.

記憶的味道

When you took a bite of onion rings with mayonnaise, it struck you. It’s something so familiar yet far away. You know your memory of food has been imprinted with mayonnaise, too.
Come to think of it, I’m not sure if it’s mayonnaise or tarter sauce. But at that moment, every bite just tasted good.

This is not a fancy photo, of course. What can I say? I can only document it now.
