Exhibit
I went to see an exhibit today, and talked to almost all the artists. It’s an exhibit with interactive installation art, videos, slideshows, photographs, drawings, temporary drawings, and food.
Let’s talk about the food first. The artist called her food her “art work”. I asked her why. She said when she traveled and tried to incorporate her experience into her art, she could never really incorporate something local into the work. Therefore, she came up with an idea of using local food, such as, strawberry, as an ingredient of her work. The “art work” she presents today is strawberry jam. She brought a loaf of bread and her jam to share with people. I said to her, “If your work is eaten, there will be nothing left.” She replied, “I document the process with photos. But what’s important is there will be experience and memory.”
